Opening the Sidecar
Toggle the sidecar panel using Cmd + Shift + O (Mac) or Ctrl + Shift + O (Windows/Linux). The sidecar can display:- A specific page from the current document
- A related or referenced document
- A secondary view of the same document at a different location
Use Cases
Side-by-Side Review
Open a data form in the center view and the source document in the sidecar to review extracted values against the original content.
Cross-Reference
When reviewing multi-page documents, use the sidecar to keep a reference page visible while working through other pages in the main view.
Detaching to a Separate Window
The sidecar can be detached into its own browser window, giving you a full document viewer on a second monitor or alongside other applications. How to Detach
Click the detach button in the sidecar header, or use the pop-out button in the spatial viewer toolbar. The sidecar opens in a new browser tab as a full document viewer. When the sidecar is detached:- The inline sidecar panel collapses to save workspace real estate
- The external tab shows a full document viewer with all spatial navigation tools
- Document views, page navigation, and annotation events are synchronized between the main workspace and the detached tab
- Clicking an attribute or tag in the main workspace focuses the corresponding location in the detached viewer
Automatic Reconnection
The main workspace monitors the detached tab with a heartbeat signal. If you close the external tab, the inline sidecar automatically restores after a few seconds. You can also click the collapsed sidecar indicator to re-expand it inline. If your browser blocks the popup, check your browser’s popup blocker settings and allow popups for the Kodexa domain.
